SYDNEY OLYMPICS 2000 MASCOTS
Whilst studying drama at The Actors Centre, Martin worked as a freelance illustrator. During this period he was also contracted to VB Concepts & was assigned to the Sydney Olympic 2000 Campaign. Martins job was to take the existing mascots of the Olympics & re create them in the various competing sports. These designs were turned into badges (Pins) & sold in the hundreds of thousands around the world. A very proud piece for the Folio, not so great on the residuals..!
Martin incidentally was also a volunteer in the opening ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Games & was part of the awakening ceremony as a smoke spirit, that saw the sun rise over the land as the didgeridoos permeated through a millions ears & hearts, in that stadium that night. The rehearsal had all the volunteers spend about 2 months with the Koori Mob & a handful of other Indigenous tribes from the interior.
What a time.. What an event.. What a moment...
